Tilt-Head
This is the most popular type of stand mixer, and includes models like Classic and Artisan. In this style, the top of mixer tips back for access to bowl. The bowl rotates onto base. SideSwipe tilt-head models (KTH) fit all 4.5 - 5 quart tilt-heads made since 1970s.
Bowl-Lift
These taller stand mixers often have larger capacities and stronger motors. In this style, the bowl hangs from pins on arms attached to the upright part of the mixer. A crank lever raises and lowers the bowl. These are the style of mixers that you commonly find in warehouse stores like Costco and Sam's Club. NOTE: There are two styles of 6-quart models, using different size beaters. Please check descriptions carefully.
